APSW Responds to the Casey Commission on Adult Social Care

The Association of Professors of Social Work (APSW) has submitted evidence to the Casey Commission as part of its call for views on the future of adult social care in England.

Drawing on the expertise of social work academics and researchers from across the UK, the submission highlights the distinctive contribution that social workers make in supporting adults with complex needs, promoting rights and wellbeing, leading safeguarding, and working collaboratively across health and social care.

The submission also identifies key priorities for the future of adult social care, including greater continuity of care, earlier intervention, stronger specialist career pathways, increased investment in social work education, improved opportunities for research-informed practice, and better integration of social workers within community and health settings.

This contribution reflects APSW’s ongoing commitment to informing national policy, championing the social work profession, and ensuring that the voices and expertise of social work educators are represented in discussions about the future of adult social care.
